Sloop John (C)

Updated: Mar 21

Hello LSYC friends and family! With apologies to the Beach Boys, this email is titled after the WINNER of the 43rd annual Governor’s Cup Regatta! But before I get to the winners I want to acknowledge all of you who raced, helped out and attended the party- thank you to all! That was a really fun weekend, even though my Jezibel took a solid 8th place!

If you have pictures to share, please please please post them to the club’s Instagram account- (@lake stockton yacht club) and/or the Facebook page.

Thank you to all who donated- we raised money toward a committee boat, the Red Cross Hurricane Relief fund, and the Boy Scouts! The LSYC is a generous group!!

Please remember to show love to the companies that helped us out this year: Lake Stockton Boat Works, Bongo’s Bistro, and The Venue at Cabins at Stockton Lake!

Also please put some serious thought into how you (

yes, YOU)

can help out on the LSYC Board of Directors next year- we need new blood- especially (but not limited to) Rear Commodore (Race Chair) and Social Chair.

Results and times are posted on this website under the Governor’s Cup tab, but the top 3 are:

Spinnaker

1st- Touch of J (John Cooper, the title of this missive)

2nd- Risky Business ( Paul Nahon/ Zack Bonebrake)

3rd- Roshambo ( Mike Spurgeon)

JAM

1st- Alley Cat (Mrs. f-ing Borowski)

2nd- Cinnamon Girl (Bob Malouff)

3rd- Old Glory (Sam Jones)

What is on the horizon? This weekend is the

Cruiser’s Cup

– a race for “the rest of us” with a really cool trophy! Reverse start, get your start time and the course from Flip Cooper.

Sept 30 is Fall Series #3

Oct 7- Multi- Hull Seminar

October 14- Cruiser’s Distance race

October 21- Gumbo Cup! Rick’s famous gumbo served after the single hand race

October 28- Halloween Party, and end of the year meeting (this date has changed)

Over and Out from Dodge City, KS,

The Notorious B-arr-y, your Commodore in the alligator hat.

(We had a larger turnout than expected for the dinner and dance- thanks for coming!)

(How about that band? They rocked!)

(Be sure to thank All IN’s Detrick and Marla Anderson for their help- buy them a drink when you can!)
